Michelle Sidebottom

Commencing her career in international hotels and resorts in 1990, today Michelle brings a wealth of tourism, hospitality, events, caravan & camping, workforce development, vocational education & training and project management experience to the Breakaway Tourism and Avocet Island executive teams, and has an extensive network of industry, corporate and government sector networks.

Michelle hold qualifications in Tourism; Tourist Park Management; Training & Assessment; and Business Marketing fields. She is also a graduate of Harvard University’s ‘Harvard Kennedy School Executive Program’ in Leading Economic Growth (2022).

Examples of previous employers include: Hotels and Resorts in Japan and Malaysia; Joondalup Resort and Country Club; Yalgorup Eco Park; New Esplanade Hotel; Hospitality Group Training; Aspen Group (Resorts and Villages); and FutureNow Creative and Leisure Industries Training Council. Michelle has also worked as a business development contractor and relief general manager in a range of hospitality, tourism and lifestyle village operations across Australia.

Michelle's diverse list of clients includes proprietors such as hotels and resorts, tourist parks, tour operators, bars, restaurants, recreation attractions, lifestyle villages, property developers, Indigenous businesses, registered training organisations, industry organisations, government agencies and partnering industry consultancies.

Michelle currently holds positions with the Peel Development Commission (Deputy Chair); Coolibah Care (Deputy Chair); and the South Metropolitan TAFE Hospitality Industry Advisory Group (Chair).

A current Member of Women in Tourism & Hospitality WA, and former Board Member of Visit Mandurah; Aboriginal Tourism Academy Program Manager and Industry Advisor for the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council; Chair/Judge of the Clubs Western Australia Awards for Excellence | WA and Australian Tourism Awards | Australian Hotels Association (WA) Awards, Michelle’s energy and commitment to the growth and development of the tourism, lifestyle and associated industries in Western Australia ensures a high quality of service delivery and assured client confidence.

Michael Sidebottom

Michael has been involved in the tourism, recreation, lifestyle and mining sectors since 2000. Michael is the Operations Manager of Breakaway Parks and Avocet Island managed properties and is well versed in all aspects of project management from design and regulatory approvals to project administration and implementation of operational systems.

Through various projects, Michael has developed a comprehensive knowledge of site acquisitions; caravan park, lifestyle and mining village developments; and modular building, which has seen him involved in the manufacturing and distribution of modular accommodation, park homes, site offices and amenities buildings to suit industries such as hospitality, mining, tourism, lifestyle, construction and local government.

Michael has produced and implemented numerous feasibility and business case studies and strategies for local government agencies and the private sector. His strong facility management and external operations management services increases business occupancy, revenue and operational capacity. He also develops and implements standards compliant policies, procedures and operational documents for a range of industries.

Previous employers include: Fleetwood Corporation; National Australia Bank; Yalgorup Eco Park; Peel Thunder Football Club; YMCA; Aspen Group (Resorts & Villages); and National Lifestyle Villages.

After many years of building a broad repertoire of experience and knowledge, Michael is able to provide clients with a considered approach to each project ensuring ‘fit for purpose’ project objectives are structured to maximise positive returns on investment outcomes.
